Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will the device provided by ComWavz replace my modem?
A: Yes. However, if you have a modem you may want to leave it in place for future use. Its presence will have no impact on your Comwavz connection.

Q: How long do installations take?
A: Typically our installations take from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the complexity of the installation. Complexity can be impacted by distance from antenna to computer, type of equipment used and type of structure. Business installations and bundled Dish TV/ComWavz installs tend to take longer than residential Internet only installations.

Q: Can everyone have Internet access via your services?
A: Everyone within range of one of our towers has a good chance of getting our service. The majority of people interested in our service can get connected, however hills, buildings and tall trees can be a hindrance. The best way to find out is contact us and we will either tell you over the phone or we will send a technician to your location to verify serviceability as long as you are prepared to commit to service if the result is positive.

Q: How "fast" should I expect my ComWavz connection to run?
A: Our wireless network provides average speeds that are between 384 and 768 Kbps (occasionally higher, occasionally lower). Our towers are connected to the Internet with multiple 45 Mbps high-capacity DS-3's.

Q: Do I need to be present during the installation?
A: Yes, you will need to be at your home or business during the installation, since our installer must enter your property to complete the work. Also, whoever is present during the installation must be at least 18 years old to sign paperwork verifying the installation was completed and the service is working properly.

Q: Do you provide online storage space for ComWavz subscribers?
A: Yes, we provide 10 Megabytes each for e-mail and web page space as part of our base service. If you are interested in more storage, packages up to several hundred Megabytes are available. Call our Call Center for more information.

Q: What hardware and software will I need to use?
A: We recommend the use of current generation Microsoft Windows, Linux or Macintosh computers in order to have the best online experience. Pentium III (or equivalent) and later, or 200 PowerPC or faster hardware is recommended.

Q: What if I want to connect more than one computer to the Internet over my connection?
A: If you would like to connect multiple computers to the Internet over your ComWavz connection you MUST have a router installed between the Ethernet bridge and your computers. Also, the router you use must employ NAT. Most routers employ NAT, if you are unsure refer to the owners manual or contact the manufacturer for verification.

Q: My service is not working properly, what should I do?
A: Please call our service number at 1-866-4-COMWAVZ.

Q: How long do I have to cancel my service?
A: You may cancel service at any time. For the first 30 days of service you may cancel with no early disconnect fee. If you decide to disconnect after 30 days but before your 12 month contract is up there will be an early disconnect fee.

Q: Will I have a new e-mail address?
A: Yes, our installer will provide you with information on how to reach your new e-mail address. However, you may continue to use any e-mail address you choose. If you prefer to use one different from ours, please let us know and we will re-direct e-mail that arrives in your new e-mail box to your preferred one. This is important since we occasionally send out maintenance and information notices, and we want to be certain you receive them.

Q: If I want to change the computer or router connected to my ComWavz Internet Service, what should I do?
A: Please call our service number at 1-866-4-COMWAVZ. In order to maintain network security, we require customers to contact us and provide the MAC address of the new router or computer they plan to connect to the network prior to activating it.

Q: What is my MAC address?
A: The MAC address is a unique number assigned to every Network Interface Card (NIC). The address is created and assigned when the card is manufactured. The number is in hexadecimal form. It will look something like this: 00-10-D0-B9-AA-A4 Sometimes when you see this address, the numbers are separated by colons rather than dashes; as in 00:10:D0:B9:AA:A4.
